About Us

The Directorate of Advancement and Linkages (DAL) was established in April, 2021 by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olufemi Peters. The Directorate is domiciled in the Vice-Chancellery. It was hitherto a Unit in the Directorate of Research Administration and Advancement (DRAA).

The new Directorate came with expanded functions in order to meet the university’s need for internationalization of operations and institutional advancement in the global arena.

 

 

What We Do

  • Explore opportunities for working relationships and collaborations with national and international institutions, agencies, organizations, industry and individuals, in areas of training, research and overall development and advancement of the university.
  • Function primarily as an interface between the university and its affiliate collaborative agencies and institutions and co-ordinate linkages between NOUN and various public or private sector establishments and organizations for purposes of qualitative manpower training, capacity building, and scientific/technological advancement.
  • Serve as a platform for effective upgrading and marketing of NOUN academic programmes through a purpose-oriented curriculum, collaborative research, and mutually beneficial staff and student exchange partnerships.
  • Support and assist academic and administrative interactions and exchanges that encompass both undergraduate and post-graduate traineeship schemes and other collaborative arrangements as may be worked out between NOUN and other institutions and agencies

We Aim to:

  • Develop new opportunities for philanthropic support for the University by fostering a culture of giving among staff and students, graduates, corporations, foundations and other educational stakeholders.
  • Maintain existing linkages, collaborations and partnerships with other institutions and keep records of their outcomes.
  • Foster academic collaborations with local and international institutions for Faculty development through staff exchange, trainings and scholarship endowments
  • Forge strategic alliances to support University Advancement programmes.
  • Develop a comprehensive alumni database and actively engage alumni and friends of the University in all its activities.
  • Solicit for donors, investors and strategic services partners for mutually beneficial engagements.

Mission Statement

To establish, coordinate and manage NOUN’s linkages with local and international higher educational institutions, corporate organizations and educational stakeholders at home and abroad, by seeking support and forging partnerships towards the attainment of the objectives of open and distance education.

Vision Statement

To steer NOUN to be the foremost open and distance learning institution in teaching, research, innovation and community service through strategic partnerships and collaborations with local and international partners.

The Director

The Directorate is headed by Mrs. Omorogieva E. Ileka, who has decades of administrative experience in a higher education regulatory agency before joining the services of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN). Over time, the administrator per excellence has worked in the strategic divisions of the university.
Mrs. Ileka, who has attended many local and international trainings and workshops, holds several distinguished positions and membership of some local and international professional organizations. She has also been recognised and honoured with Fellowship awards for professional distinctions.
